The Department of Environment has fined three factories Tk 1.3 million for water and air pollution.
The factories were Concord Ready-mix & Concrete Products Ltd, Fish Processing Ltd and Export Pack Ltd.
DoE director (enforcement) Munir Chowdhury told bdnews24.com they were fined for polluting water and air through their activities.
Concord Ready-mix & Concrete Products Ltd was strictly ordered to install air pollutant treatment mechanism soon.
Fish Processing Ltd and Export Pack Ltd were earlier ordered to set up Effluent Treatment Plants, but they didn’t obey. Also, they were strictly asked to install EFT soon.
In addition, a brick kiln, Akhter Bricks, was also asked to be relocated within seven days at Mohra area of Chandgaon in the city. Otherwise, it would be evicted, the DoE warned.
