Two Bangladeshi cattle traders were shot dead on Satkhira border on Monday and Tuesday night.
BDR sources said a group of cattle traders were taken by Indians to their cattle market at Hatathganj bazzar on Monday. After purchase of cattle they were returning at about 11 pm when BSF troopers of Joynagar camp fired at them at Belibord. One trader fell to the BSF bullet while others managed escape.
The body of the unidentified victim was dragged away by the BSF jawans. On Tuesday, a group of cattle traders went to the Indian cattle market close to the border on invitation from Indian traders. They were returning with cattle at about 10pm when BSF held some of them at Gozadanga on the Indian side. They mercilessly beat them leading to the death one trader on the spot. His body was thrown into the river. Bashirhat police recovered the body yesterday.
BDR local operation officer Major Jahangir Alam confirmed the BSF killing of two cattle traders. He said they have strongly protested the killing to Joynagar and Gozadanga BSF camps.
