Miscreants hacked a school girl in village Aliabad under Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi Sunday night as she turned down a marriage proposal.
The victim, identified as Mahinur, 15, daughter of Sundar Ali of Aliabad under Shibpur, is now fighting for her life at Narsingdi Zila Hospital, hospital sources said.
The police and local sources said Maidul, son of Vikchan Miah of Aliabad, and his associates used to disturb Mahinur.
At one point, Maidul proposed to marry Mahinur but she and her parents turned down the proposal.
At this, Maidul, with his friends Emdad and others, attacked Sundar Ali’s house, and failing to kidnap Mahinur, they indiscriminately hacked her with sharp weapons.
As members of the victim’s family shouted for help, local people rescued Mahinur and sent her to Narsingdi Zila Hospital in a critical condition.
A case was filed with the Shibpur police but none was arrested so far.
