Barisal Division clinched the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 10th National one-day Cricket League crown despite losing to Dhaka Division by 21 runs in the last round match at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah on Monday.
On completion of the day’s last and 10th round matches, both Barisal and Rajshahi divisions secured equal 14 points, but Barsial won the league title as head to head winners against Rajshahi.
Barisal beat Rajshahi twice — in the first leg and return league — by two wickets on both occasions.
Batting first in the day’s match, Dhaka Division scored 151 runs for 9 in stipulated 50 overs and later dismissed Barisal Division for 130 runs in 49.2 overs.
Tail-ender Niaz Morshed, who scored not out 7 and grabbed three wickets for 23 runs in 10 overs, was adjudged man of the match.
In the day’s another match, Rajshahi Division earned a four-wicket victory over Khulan Division in a low scoring match at the BKSP ground in Savar.
Sent into bat first in a delayed start 47-over-a-side match due to fog, Khulna Division were dismissed for paltry 71 runs in 30.1 overs.
Suhrawardy Shuvo claimed five wickets for six runs in 7.1 overs with three maidens to be adjudged man of the match.
In reply, Rajshahi Division cantered to victory scoring 75 runs in 18.5 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Murad Khan grabbed five wickets for 29 runs in eight overs with one maiden.
In the day’s other match, Chittagong Division defeated Sylhet Division by 50 runs at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.
Coin-favoured, Chittagong Division opened the innings first to score 148 for all in 45 overs with Mahmudul Hasan contributing 34 runs off 70 balls that included three fours.
In reply, Sylhet Division were dismissed for 98 runs in 23.5 overs.
Muktar Ali of Chittagong, who took four wickets for 23 runs, was adjudged man of the match.
On completion of the league matches, Chittagong Division was placed third securing 12 points after champions Barisal Division (14) and runners-up Rajshahi Division (14).
