Four people were killed and 10 others seriously injured in separate road accidents in Faridpur and Narsingdi.
Our Correspondent from Faridpur reports: At least two people were killed and six others injured in two separate road accident in Madhukhali and Nagarkanda upazilas of Faridpur yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Nazmul Sheikh, 24, a rickshaw puller and Sumita Rani Sarkar, 28, a housewife. Both were from Madhukhali upazila.
The accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Shoukhin Paribahan hit two rickshaws from behind at Madhukhali Bazar area at around 1:30pm leaving the two dead on the spot.
Four pedestrians namely Ahmed Biswas, 50, Khaleq Mia, 40, Yasin Shikder 30 and Zahid Hasan, 30, were seriously injures and sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital (FMCH).
Meanwhile local people took to the street for half an hour in protest of the accident.
Another accident took place at Talma road crossing of Nagarkanda upazila a when a speeding truck rammed a van at around 6:00am yesterday. The van-puller, Salam Sheikh, 40,and passenger Shohag Sheikh were seriously injured and admitted to FMCH.
Our correspondent from Narsingdi adds: At least two people were killed and four others injured in a road accident in Battpara area under Sadar upazila of the district yesterday afternoon.
The deceased are Aklima Begum, 35, and Sohel Mia, 28.
Sub-Inspector Mohsin of Sadar Model Police Station said a Bhairab bound bus lost control over the steering and collided head-on with a Nasimon (locally assembled three-wheeler), leaving Aklima, a pedestrian, dead on the spot and injuring five others.
Sohel, driver of the Nasimon, succumbed to his injuries on way to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
All the injured were admitted to the hospital.
Police seized the bus and a case was filed with the police station in this connection.
