The Dhaka University authorities early Monday handed over a young man to the police for passing himself off as a university student.
The arrestee was identified as Kamruzzaman Shohag of village Shagata in Gaibandha.
The university proctor, KM Saiful Islam, told newsmen that, informed by some students, the university proctorial body went to Mohsin Hall and caught him in front of the hall guest room.
He was later handed over to the Shahbagh police, said the proctor.
The authorities also recovered a huge number of fake documents, including political science honors certificate and marks sheet, blank marks sheet, DU medical card, three Bangladeshi passports and one DU third year marketing department identity card.
Hall sources said he was residing in room 363 of the hall for the past four months introducing himself as a third year law department student.
While talking to reporters, he admitted that he lived in different
halls of the university for more than three years using different names and addresses.
The proctor also said Sohag confessed that he had made those fake documents from Urolink, a press at Paltan in the city.
Officer-in-charge of the Sahbagh police station Rezaul Karim said the police filed a case against the fake student and he was produced in court seeking a remand for 5 days but the court granted a two-day remand.
The police also suspect he might have involvement with a gang.
