Officials of the education ministry have said all preparations have been completed for the maiden Junior School Certificate examinations scheduled to begin on November 4.
Dhaka education board chairman Fahima Khatun said this year 15, 05,391 students would take the examinations in 1806 centres across the country.
The examinations will end on November 14 and the results will be published by November 31. According to the officials, the results will be published under grade system.
The education ministry introduced JSC examinations this year abolishing the junior scholarship exams and the class final exams for class VIII students.
‘All necessary measures have been taken for successful holding of the examinations,’ Fahima Khatun told New Age on Friday. She said that the exam questions and blank answer sheets had been sent to almost all centres. ‘We have formed some vigilance teams to monitor everything relating to the exams. As this is going to be the maiden JSC examinations, we have exchanged views extensively to make guardians and students aware of the new system,’ she said.
The examinations will be held under the eight general education boards with the same question papers on two shifts everyday. The duration of the morning session will be from 10:00am to 1:00pm and the evening session from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. The JSC examinations will be held on nine subjects, each for 100 marks. The examination will continue for three hours but students with disabilities will get an extra 15 minutes.
