The Mentors Inter-Private University Football Tournament, organised by Auritro and assisted by the Bangladesh Football Federation, kicks off at the Kamalapur stadium on Tuesday.
In the opening match of the 10- team meet, Northern University take on University of Liberal Arts.
The teams splitting into three groups – four in Group A and three each in Groups B and C – will play in the first phase on league basis. The champions and runners-up of Group A and the top teams of the other groups will advance to the semi-finals. The final is billed to take place on November 13.
Mentors Education are continuing their sponsorship while TVS Auto and Occult Bangladesh are the co-sponsors. Channel i, Daily Kalerkantha, New Age, Radio Today and Bangladesherkhela.com will act as the media partners of the event.
The chief operating officer of Auritro, Abdullah al Mamun, disclosed the details of the tournament at a press conference at the BFF House on Sunday. Football organisers Nuruzzaman, Ahsan Ahmed Amit and Dilruba Mujaddid Nancy, the liaison officer of Mentors, were also present at the press conference.
Participating teams:
Group A – Northern University, Independent University of Bangladesh, IUBAT and University of Liberal Arts.
Group B – East West University, Presidency University and United International University.
Group C – North South University, BRAC University and London College of Legal Studies.
