A young man was killed and a rickshaw van peddler injured in a road accident in front of district Jail Bilding at Fatulla in Sadar upazila on Thursday night.
The dead was identified as Jahirul Islam, 29, son of Abdul Latif of Dalipara village of Panchaboti.
Police said the accident took place around 11:30pm when a district-bound bus hit a the van carrying poultry feeds from behind, killing Jahirul on the spot and injuring the van peddler Hafizul Islam.
Later, agitating people barricaded the Dhaka-Narayanganj Highway for half an hour and damaged a bus of Bondhon paribahan, causing huge tailback on the highway.
Later, police rushed to the spot seized the bus and brought the situation under control.
A Correspondent from Bagerhat adds: One person was killed and another injured in a road accident at Noyapara intersection under Fakirhat upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rob Hawlader, 35, son of Intaz Hawlader of Boiltoli village in Fakirhat upazila.
Police said the accident occurred around 8:00pm when a bus from the district hit a rickshaw-van from behind at Noyapara intersection, leaving the van peddler Rob dead on spot and passenger Abdul Latif Sheikh injured.
