But denies murder
Devashish Saha Rony, prime accused of Chanpa Rani Bhowmik murder case, has confessed to running his motorbike into Chanpa but denied killing her willingly.
Rony made the confession to police on Thursday night after he was taken afresh on a two-day remand, said Mohammad Ali, investigation officer of the case.
Earlier in the day, the accused was produced before the Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court that approved the remand prayer. On November 1, he was placed on a three-day remand.
Police will produce him before the court today with a prayer to send him to jail.
Rony drove his motorbike into Chanpa on October 26 for protesting the harassment of her two daughters.
Arun Kumar Bhowmik, Chanpa’s brother, filed a murder case with Madhukhali Police Station in this connection on the following day. The case statement said Rony had been stalking and harassing his twin nieces for the last one year.
