Speakers at a rally yesterday demanded immediate steps from the authorities concerned to reconstruct Salehpur Bridge and its approach roads to prevent road accidents.
They said the bridge is too narrow for vehicles to cross smoothly and the approach road has bends with no traffic signs or speed bumps, posing a risk to incoming traffic.
A number of accidents occurred in the spot due to these reasons, they said.
They made the remarks while addressing the rally titled “Salehpur bridge is a death trap: We demand punishment of responsible individuals and institutions”, organised by Poribesh Bachao Andolon (Poba) in front of the National Press Club, says a press release.
