At least four people were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in Pabna, Jhenidah and Chandpur on Wednesday and yesterday.
Our correspondent from Pabna reports: One person and his son were killed in a road accident when a speedy bus hit their motorbike on Pabna-Kashinathpur highway at Ahammadpur bridge on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Md Abdur Rahman, 48, and his son Monirul Islam Russel of village Ahammadpur at Sujanagar upazila.
Rahman was killed on the spot while his son died on the way to Pabna General Hospital.
ABM Jahid Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sujanagar Police Station, said, “We have arrested the driver Parvez Haque and seized the truck.”
Our correspondent from Jhenidah adds: A vegetable trader was killed and three others were injured in a road crash at Baidanga Bazar of Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Masum, 30, son of Wasel Ali of Gaiedghata village of Chuadanga district.
Sagir Mia, OC of Sadar Police Station, said the accident occurred when a ten wheeler road construction truck collided head-on with a vegetable laden pick up van at Baidanga Bazar.
Masum succumbed to his injuries at about 2:30 pm at Jhenidah Sadar Hospital.
A correspondent from Chandpur reports: One person was killed and three others injured in a road accident on Chandpur-Comilla highway at Ghosherhat bridge area of the district on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Shahjahan, 40, son of late Habib Ullah of Aman Ullah village under Sadar upazila.
Of the injured Sumon Bhuia, 24, and Masum Billah, 26, was rushed to Chandpur Sadar hospital while the other Rusel Bhuyia, 20, was sent to Dhaka.
Police said the accident took place when a speedy truck from the opposite direction hit a CNG run auto-rickshaw the Ghosherhat Bridge, leaving its driver Shahjahan dead on the spot and injuring three others.
