Admission forms of 24 government schools in the city would be sold for Tk 100 each from December 5 to 14, the director of Secondary and Higher Education, Jakir Hossain told New Age on Thursday.
He said that the directorate and the headmasters of the schools took the decision at a meeting on Wednesday to distribute the forms beginning December 5.
He said that the 24 schools would be split into three groups, each consisting of eight schools for holding the admission tests on three separate days.
The admission tests of the three groups of schools, he said, would be held on December 19, December 20 and December 21.
He said that the results would be published on December 27.
As there is a debate over how the government schools would admit students into class I, through the lottery system or admission tests, most of the headmasters favoured the lottery system, the director general of Secondary and Higher Education, Noman-ur-Rashid told New Age.
He said that he would send the matter to the education for a decision.
