Burglars stole valuables from four flats of a building while the residents were on Eid vacation and a gang of robbers looted a house at gunpoint in the city’s Sutrapur on Thursday night.
Locals and police sources said a gang of thieves stole valuables from flats of Abdur Razzak and Hossain Miah on the ground floor and two others flats of bank official Nur-e-Alam and printing businessman Mujibur Rahman on the first floor of a building of 14/27- Abhay Das Lane.
They entered the building between midnight and 4:00am through the collapsible gate using duplicate keys, they added.
Delwar Hossain, sub-inspector of Sutrapur Police Station, said they could not ascertain the worth of the stolen goods as the owners of the houses are yet to return.
No case was filed yet in this connection, the SI said.
Meanwhile, a gang of robbers looted cash and gold ornaments from a house of an Italy expatriate tying up the family members at gunpoint.
Police sources said five to six armed criminals broke into the house of Golam Sarwar of 13/H Abhay Das Lane and looted gold ornaments and Tk 20,000 in cash tying up his family members at around 3:00am.
Sutrapur police said a case was filed in this connection but none was arrested.
