A 23-year-old businessman was beaten to death by some assailants on Nasir Uddin Sardar Lane in the Dhaka city’s Sutrapur area Friday night, the hospital sources said. The victim, businessman Mahbubur Rahman Robin, was running a video-game shop at the area.
He was beaten up by some assailants on Nasir Uddin Sardar Lane on Friday night and died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital few hours after he was taken there, the hospital source said.
Some pedestrians, who brought critically injured Mahbubur Rahman to the hospital, told newsmen that they found him in front of Al-Mayeen Madrassah in the area Friday evening and took him to the hospital.
Sutrapur police officer-in-charge Nazrul Islam said Mahbubur Rahman might be killed following a feud with a neighbouring family over love affair.
He was in a love affair with a girl for two years and her family did not allow the relationship and frequently threaten him of dire consequences.
He might be killed by the girl’s family members, the police suspected.
Preparation to file a case was under process till the report filed at 8:00pm on Saturday.
Later, local people brought out a procession in protest at the murder and demanding the assailants should be brought under trial.
