A youth was killed allegedly by the family members of his girlfriend at Sutrapur area in the city on Friday night.
More than 50 local people brought out a procession in the area yesterday afternoon demanding trial of those responsible for the killing.
The dead Mahbubur Rahman Robin, 23, used to run a video shop owned by his family in Old Dhaka.
Locals said critically injured Robin was rescued from Nasiruddin Sarder Lane at around 8:30pm on Friday and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died at 11:15pm.
His brother Masudur Rahman Tapan alleged that Robin had a relationship with a girl living near their Kalta Bazar residence in Old Dhaka for the last two years. The girl’s family did not accept the affair.
Robin went to meet the girl on Friday afternoon and went missing since then.
Sutrapur Police Chief Nazrul Islam told The Daily Star that Robin’s family made a verbal accusation that the girl’s family threw Robin off a building but no case was filed till 8:00pm yesterday.
Police added that they found no witness of the incident.
