Police yesterday appealed to the deputy commissioner of Dhaka to cancel four firearms licenses of film actor also Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) Ward Councillor Monwar Hossain Dipjol, who has been on the run to avoid arrest.
Officer-in-charge of Darus Salam Police Station Abdul Malek told The Daily Star last night that they submitted the appeal claming Dipjol had been using his arms in illegal activities including threatening people.
Dipjol has licenses for a single barrel shotgun, a pistol, a rifle, and a double barrel shot gun, said police sources.
Police have been on a massive drive for the last five days in the capital to arrest Dipjol on charges of assaulting a traffic police constable in Gabtali area of the capital on November 16.
The actor beat up Traffic Police Constable Altaf Uddin as the constable stopped his car for traffic rules violation.
Altaf later filed a case with Darus Salam Police Station in connection with the incident.
