9 more youths jailed
The father of a stalking victim was assaulted yesterday while nine stalkers were jailed and another nine were fined in Sirajganj, Bagerhat, Tangail, Netrokona and Madaripur.
SSC examinee Bipasha of Belkuchi upazila was harassed by Babu, a local youth, on her way home from a coaching centre yesterday morning, reports our Sirajganj correspondent.
Her father Hemash Sarker informed Babu’s father of the incident.
Babu and his associates later assaulted Bipasha’s father, said police.
Bipasha’s uncle Mosharraf Hossain Sarker filed a case with Belkuchi Police Station accusing seven youths.
Babu had been stalking Bipasha for long, police added.
Meanwhile, a mobile court sentenced four youths to one month’s imprisonment each and fined each of them Tk 50,000 for stalking schoolgirls at Ullahpara upazila in Sirajganj.
The convicts, Apu, 20, Ranju, 23, Mannan, 21, and Nazim, 22, were caught in the Science College area.
Our Bagerhat correspondent reports, a mobile court yesterday sentenced three youths to one-year imprisonment each in connection with stalking female students of schools and colleges.
The convicts are Rubel, 18, Lalchand Shikder, 18, and Mahbub Shikder, 20.
Plainclothes policemen caught the three near Women’s College area of the town yesterday.
The same court in the afternoon fined nine students of Bagerhat Government PC College Tk 1,000 each for stalking girls.
Our Tangail correspondent reports, a mobile court sentenced Joyanta Kor Pappu, 22, a student of Govt Saadat College, to three months in jail and fined him Tk 1,000 for stalking a female college student.
Pappu used to stalk Shatabdi Ghosh Chaity, 19, a student of Kumudini Govt Womens’ College, police said.
Our Madaripur correspondent reports, a mobile court sentenced a stalker to one month’s jail for defaulting on his Tk 5,000 fine.
