The three-day agribusiness fair at the Green Plaza of the Rajshahi City Corporation building drew a huge crowd on the closing day on Monday.
A good number of people from different wards in the city and city suburbs thronged the fair premises to have an overview of various kinds of agricultural products.
The fair featured a total of 30 stalls, each displaying agriculture products including fruits, and modern agricultural instruments. There was also an information centre catering information on the products.
Hayatuzzaman Khan, marketing department student at Rajshahi University, who visited the fair along with his friends, said this kind of fair was very important for all classes of people as there were enough opportunities to be familiar with the latest agriculture technology.
Humayara Khatun, housewife of the city’s New Market area, said, ‘I have come here with my daughter to introduce her to the agricultural products of our country, including various kinds of fruits.’
The Agriculture Marketing Department organised the fair titled ‘Rajshahi Agribusiness Fair 2010’ with the help of the Rajshahi City Corporation.
The Rajshahi mayor, AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, visited the fair Monday afternoon.
‘Without the development in the agriculture sector, it will be not possible to make a self- dependable country,’ he said.
He also hoped that the present government will take effective measures to promote agriculture.
Additional divisional commissioner of Rajshahi Shapon Kumar Roy and deputy director of Agriculture Marketing Department Anarul Kabir were present with the mayor among others.
