At least 10 people were killed and 32 others injured in separate road accidents in Manikganj and Natore districts on Monday night and yesterday.
Our correspondent from Manikganj reports: Five people were killed and 30 others injured in two separate road accidents in Manikganj on Monday night.
Ruhul Kuddus, inspector of Saturia Police Station, said three people were killed and 25 others injured in a head-on collision between a Khulna-bound bus and a Dhaka-bound truck on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Golora in the district at about 11:30pm.
The deceased were identified as Mamun, 40, the bus driver, Hannan, 35, the truck driver and Majnu Mia, 25, a bus passenger, of Rajnagar village in Rajbari district.
The injured were admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital from where five persons were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
In another accident, two transport workers were killed and three others injured when a truck skidded off road and hit a wayside tree on Dhaka-Singair-Manikganj road at Gobindol under Singair upazila of the district at about 2:30am.
Shafikul Islam, officer-in-charge of Singair Police Station, said the victims were identified as Billal Hossain, 38, son of Dalil Uddin of Gozaria village under Paikgachha upazila of Khulna and Firoz, 18, son of Abdul Gafur of Krishnapur village in Manikganj Sadar upazila.
The injured were admitted to Singair Upazila Health Complex.
The deceased bodies were sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Our correspondent from Natore adds: Five people were killed and two others injured in a road accident near upazila office in Natore yesterday at about 12:45pm.
Of the deceased four people were identified as Anwar Hossain, 45, son of Abbas Hossain of Degachi village in Sadar upazila, Ariful Islam, 28, son of Amin and his nephew Arman Ali, 27, of village Charhapania under Singra upazila, Osman Goni, son of Moyez Uddin of Bara Horishpur area of the town. Another deceased could not be identified immediately.
Injured Paritosh Gosh, 35, son of Fakir Ghosh of village Nazirpur and Mahatab Uddin, 30, son of Afsar Ali of Patul Hapania village under Naldanga upazila admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital from where Paritosh shifted to Rajshashi Medical Collage Hospital.
Police said the accident occurred at about 12:45pm when a Faridpur-bound bus hit a battery-run three-wheeler auto rickshaw leaving four passengers of the three-wheeler dead on the spot while another at Natore Sadar Hospital.
Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Natore Police Station, said the bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy and a case was filed with Natore Police Station in this connection.
