South Korea has established a medical training centre in Gazipur to train paramedics so that they can provide basic eye cares in different hospitals.
Taiyoung Cho, Korean ambassador to Dhaka; and Lee Jung Wook, resident representative of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Bangladesh Office; inaugurated Mid Level Ophthalmic Personnel (MLOP) Training Centre in Karamtola Christian Hospital (KCH) on Monday.
The centre has been set up with financial assistance from KOICA and Korean Heart to Heart Foundation.
The centre is equipped with modern facilities such as well-furnished classroom, necessary MLOP equipment, and a library and computer lab, said a press release.
The training centre will allow 20 students for admission every year with its very 1st batch starting from June 2011.
Vice-chair of Heart to Heart Foundation, Ms Lee, was also present.
