Our Magura Correspondent adds: A housewife, her husband and sister-in-law at Manirampur village in Magura Sadar upazila were injured by a stalker and his gang when the three tried to save their relative, a female student of class nine, from kidnap attempt by the criminals on Tuesday evening.
Seriously injured Shantona Begum, 32, is undergoing treatment at Magura Sadar Hospital.
“Amirul Islam, son of Abdul Halim of the same village, had been teasing my sister-in-law [husband’s sister], a student of class nine, on her way to madrasa for several months but she did not make any response. A few days ago, Amirul took her photo against her will,” Shantona told this correspondent at hospital.
“We informed Amirul’s guardians of all the incidents, but to no effect. Recently Amirul sent a proposal to my husband to marry her. As my husband rejected the proposal, the youth got annoyed,” she said.
Amirul along with five others went to the girl’s house and locked in an altercation with the family members. At one stage they tried to kidnap her.
As Shantona, her husband Habibullah and his younger sister tried to resist the delinquents, Amirul and his gang hit Shantona on the head with a sharp weapon and beat up two others before fleeing the scene.
Admitted the incident, Magura Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rakib Khan said, “A case has been filed against seven people in this connection and police is trying to arrest the accused.”
