Four people, including a woman and her son, were murdered in two incidents in the capital on Sunday.
Two of the victims were identified as Virginia Rosario, 65, and her son Valentine Rosario alias Milton while the rest could not be identified immediately.
Assailants killed a woman and her son in their flat, 16/F on Indira Road under Shere-e-Bangla Nagar police station in the afternoon.
The police and local people said they recovered the body of Milton and his mother in their third floor flat of the four-storey building at around 2:00pm.
They said the domestic help of the house saw the bodies lying in a pool of blood in a room and informed the security guard of the building of the killings.
‘Milton’s legs and hands were tied up with chain. His mother was strangled. We suspect the killing took place in the morning,’ said sub-inspector Kripa Sindhu Bala of Sher-e-Bangla police station, who visited the scene Sunday evening.
He said they suspected family feud and previous enmity behind the killings and added that four to five people perpetrated the killings.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police officer-in-charge Reaz Hossain said security guard of the building had informed that one of Milton’s friends had visited the flat Sunday morning.
‘If we can detain the friend of Milton, we would get information about the killing. The security guard also said that Milton’s friend had left the house in a hurry riding a motorbike in the morning. It was a planned killing as nothing was looted from the house,’ the police official said.
He said they had seized a sharp weapons and a syringe left beside the bodies.
Locals said Milton’s family owned the four-storey building but many of the flats were sold in the past two years.
Locals also said there was dispute among relatives over the ownership of the family property.
No case was filed in this regard till about 8:30pm.
The bodies were also not sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy as the CID was collecting evidences from the house.
In another incident, the police recovered bodies of two young men from a water body near the Banani graveyard Sunday afternoon.
Police said, on information from locals, they had recovered the bodies floating on water at around 2:00pm.
The bodies were sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
The Gulshan police officer-in-charge, Kamaluddin, told reporters that they suspected that a gang might have killed the people some five or six days back.
The killers might have dumped the bodies in the water after killing them somewhere else,’ the police official said.
