Two people, including a BNP leader, were killed and 15 others injured in a fierce clash between the activists of ruling Awami League and opposition BNP at Jazira village under Munshiganj sadar upazila Wednesday.
The police said the clash ensued at about 5:00am as AL activists of Gazi group attacked the house of BNP group leader Shahjahan Khan over establishing supremacy in the village.
Equipped with lethal weapons, both the groups attacked each other, leaving 17 people, including Shahjahan, 40, and his father-in-law Almas Bepari, 60, injured during the four- hour long clash that ended at 9:00am.
Two critically injured —Almas and Shahjahan — were sent to the district General Hospital where they died after sometime.
Other injured were admitted to different local hospitals.
Police forces were deployed at the village to avert further clash.
