Hijackers in the guise of passengers took away a rented car stabbing its driver on the Dhaka-Mawa highway early yesterday.
Driver Nur Morshed, 30, with severe injuries was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Two youths around 4:30am hired the car from Airport to Mawa for Tk 2,000, Morshed said. As the car reached Mawa, they stabbed him, left him on the road and drove away.
Morshed added that one of the criminals said he was in urgent need to go to Mawa to see his mother who fell sick. The hijackers asked him to stop the vehicle for urination.
Victim’s brother Faizul Alam said the criminals also took away two cellphones.
On Thursday, three motorbikes were hijacked in separate incidents in the city. Of the bike owners, two were shot and injured and the other sustained stab injuries.
