An autistic teenager met tragic death while working at a construction site in Uttara yesterday.
Deceased Moshiur Rahman, 14, son of Abdul Bashir Rahman of Chapainawabganj, came to Dhaka six days ago for treatment.
As the father ran out of money, he and Moshiur started day labouring at a construction site in Uttara sector-11 hoping to earn the cost for the treatment. Moshiur was engaged in carrying bricks on his head to upper floors.
Yesterday around 3:45pm, the boy suddenly lost balance and fell from the fourth floor of the under construction building.
He was rushed to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital, Uttara branch and was later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The doctors there declared him dead at 6:45pm.
Khandaker Rezaul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Uttara Police Station acknowledged the incident.
