Bishwabidyalay Theatre launched a three-day programme in Rajshahi University on Thursday, on the occasion of its 24th founding anniversary.
The activists of the theatre brought out a procession on the campus marking the occasion.
The procession was inaugurated by Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation secretary general Jhuna Choudhury.
RU theatre and music department chairman Moloy Bhoumik, Bishwabidyalay Theatre founder chairman Giasuddin Selim, 24-year celebration committee convener Ibnul Kayum Sony were present at the inauguration, among others.
Two productions of drama Tantrik, written by Ibnul Kayum and directed by Rafiq Muazzin and Nur Islam, were staged at the university’s Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium on Thursday afternoon and evening.
The annual general meeting of the organisation is scheduled to be held on Friday, according to a source in the organisation.
On the same day a street drama titled ‘Biphale Mulya Pherat’ will be staged at 4.00pm and traditional song ‘gajir gan’ will be performed at about 5.00pm at the Shaheed Minar Mukta Mancha at RU.
