The only Bangladeshi Everest conqueror Musa Ibrahim and renowned swimmer Lipton Sarkar will cross the channel between Teknaf’s Shah Pari and the Saint Martin’s Island in the Bay of Bengal on March 9.
They are hoping to cross the 14.5km channel in six hours.
They will take part in the Bangla Channel Swimming 2011. North Alpine Club Bangladesh and Extreme Bangla are jointly organising the event sponsored by Summit Group and Navana Ltd. Extreme Bangla President Kazi Hamidul Haque is the trainer and coach.
Musa Ibrahim scaled the Mount Everest as the first Bangladeshi on May 23, 2010. On the other hand, Lipton Sarkar crossed the Bangla Channel five times between 2006 and 2010.
