A rickshaw puller hacked to death his wife and an 11-month daughter over a family feud at a slum near the Nabodoy Housing at Adabar in the capital city Tuesday morning.
After the brutal killing, he immediately surrendered to the Rapid Action Battalion members at the Shia Mosque camp at Mohammadpur.
Witnesses said rickshaw puller Zillur Rahman killed his wife, Golapi, 25, and 11-month daughter, Ritu Moni, at around 6:00am as he locked in an altercation with his wife over a family feud.
The slum dwellers said Zillur had a feud with his wife for long and a local guardian helped them to resolve the feud Monday night. But the couple again locked in an altercation at around 6:00am.
At one stage, he took a sharp weapon from his kitchen and started hacking to his wife and infant daughter.
Hearing the screams of the victims, the neighbours rushed to the scene. Zillur came out from his shanty with bloodstained sharp weapon and launched attack on Marjina, Jamal, Mansura, Jahanara, Rokhsana and Monir, leaving them injured.
He went straight to the RAB camp and surrendered to the elite force.
Later, the RAB members handed Zillur to the Adabar police station.
Sub-inspector Sabbir Hossain of the Adabar police station told New Age that they produced Zillur before the court seeking remand as he admitted his guilt.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for post mortem.
