A 10-month-old boy was killed and his parents were seriously injured when a bus hit their CNG-run three-wheeler at Demra in the capital Saturday afternoon.
Shilpi Begum, mother of the baby, Rafi, is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) while her husband Mohammad Mubin, a microbus driver, and driver of the three-wheeler at a local clinic in Demra.
Rafi, the baby, and his parents were going to Jatrabari to catch a Shariatpur-bound bus, the officer-in-charge of Demra Police Station told The Daily Star.
A bus of Jamuna Paribahan slammed the CNG-run three wheeler carrying the family from behind twice near staff quarters area in Demra at around 2:00pm.
Hit from behind, the three-wheeler later crashed on another bus that stopped in front of it.
Pedestrians rescued the wounded family, who live in Rupganj of Narayanganj, and the driver of the three-wheeler.
When Shilpi and Rafi were rushed to the DMCH, doctors declared the baby dead.
Police nabbed the bus.
