Nicolas Cage splashed out on a stay at a ”four diamond” hotel in New Orleans for his son Weston Cage and new wife Nikki Williams after their wedding last month and arranged for a private jet to take them home to Los Angeles afterwards.
Nicolas Cage paid for his son to fly in a private jet when he got married last month.
The actor’s 20-year-old son Weston Cage – his child with actress Christina Fulton – married Nikki Williams in New Orleans on April 24 and the ‘Drive Angry’ star paid for the couple to fly back to Los Angeles in luxury after first treating them to a four-night stay at a “four diamond” hotel in the city and covering the costs for several guests to attend the nuptials.
According to gossip website TMZ, he also provided the cash for a breathtaking fireworks display at the end of the wedding.
The 47-year-old actor’s generosity comes after it was revealed last month he owes over $620,000 in unpaid gift taxes.
He is alleged to have given a total of $1.8 million to various people between 2004 and 2009, but did not pay the required taxes, according to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Under federal tax laws a 35 per cent tax must be paid by the giver on any large cash gifts.
In 2009, it was revealed Cage owed $14 million in unpaid taxes and fees for the years 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007.
In December 2010, the Hollywood actor made a $360,545 tax payment to the US government to cover owed back taxes from 2002 to 2004.
Last month, Nicolas was arrested in New Orleans for allegedly pushing his wife Alice Kim – with whom he has a five-year-old son Kal-El – during a drunken row.
