Bangladesh tasted their first win in the Grameenphone Women’s Tri-Nation Cricket Series beating visiting Sri Lanka by six wickets at Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium in Khulna Friday. Bangladesh almost made their exit in the tournament, losing to Pakistan by seven wickets in the opening match and 76 runs to Sri Lanka in the second match.
The hosts will again meet their last match against Pakistan tomorrow (Satur-day) at the same venue.
In the day’s match, Sri Lanka were dismissed cheaply for 67 runs in 23.2 overs in the face of a devastating bowling attack by Bangladesh. Dedunu De Silva top scored 26 runs for Sri Lankan.
Shamima Akhter, who was later adjudged man of the match, claimed three wickets for 23 runs while Salma Khatun and Lata Mandal captured two wickets each for 8 and 17 runs respectively.
In reply, Bangladesh reached the target scoring 71 runs in 31.3 overs for the loss of four wickets with Aeysha Akhter scoring 24 runs and Salma Khatun adding unbeaten 22.
Sri Lanka skipper Sashikala Siriwardene bagged two wickets for 16 runs. The final match of the tournament will be held on February 17 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium
at Mirpur.
