Police have got five days to question Viqarunnisa Noon School and College teacher Parimal Joydhar for sexually abusing a 10th grade girl student.
Magistrate Shamima Parvin of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Thursday granted the remand upon an appeal for 10 days from Badda Police Station inspector S M Shahadat Hossain.
The Bangla department teacher, who was sacked by the school management, was arrested by plainclothes police from a relative’s house in Keraniganj on Wednesday.
The case was filed by the father of the victim with Badda police under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
DB deputy commissioner Monirul Islam on Wednesday told a news briefing, “Parimal sexually abused the student several times.”
The tormentor, who was also produced at the briefing, was silent when reporters asked him questions.
