Zimbabwe asked for an additional $30,000 for two days’ expenses prompting the Bangladesh Cricket Board to drop the idea of sending the national team in advance for next month’s Test and one-day series, officials said on Sunday.
The BCB was keen to send the Tigers two days earlier on July 25 to facilitate
them playing a four-day warm-up match instead of scheduled two-day game before the one-off Test begins.
The visitors were ready to bear the expenses from their exchequer.
‘We wanted to pay our accommodation bill but they have asked for additional money which is huge, so we decided to drop the idea,’ said a BCB official.
If Zimbabwe had not demanded an exorbitant amount of money, the Tigers would have flown on July 25. Instead, they will now leave on July 27 as per previous schedule.
Bangladesh dropped the idea of South Africa tour for a pre-series practice match for the same reason.
The Tigers will play a Test and five one-day internationals against Zimbabwe during the tour.
