Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said conspiracy and evil designs are still being hatched after the bloody BDR mutiny in a bid to foil the country’s democracy, independence and sovereignty.
“Perhaps, many did not like the end of the crises…so conspiracy and evil designs are still being hatched,” said the prime minister in her first public remarks outside parliament since the BDR mutinied at their headquarters on February 25.
She was addressing a seminar on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s historic March 7 speech at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh as the chief guest.

Saying that conspiracy against Bangladesh has not yet ended, Hasina said, “Plot is still on to foil the country’s democracy, independence and sovereignty.” She urged all to be alert about such “evil game and conspiracy”.
“I don’t know whether I could speak here today,” she said adding the heinous BDR mutiny at its headquarters killing scores of army officers was unexpected but her government resolved the crises.
“We won’t allow any game with the people’s fate,” she said vowing to continue her movement for bringing change in the people’s life.
On the massacre of the army officers, Hasina said, “No incident could be more condemnable for the nation.”
Hasina, also the ruling Awami League president, said the country was passing a crucial moment and all would have to be united to face the crises and to move forward. “We all have to continue our battle for democratic and economic freedom,” she added.
She went on saying that her party has assumed power vowing to bring changes and they would have to implement their election pledges and establish people’s right foiling all conspiracy.
Terming the December 29 national polls as the neutral and transparent polls in country’s history, Hasina said people gave their mandate to AL for establishing a modern Bangladesh but plots are also going on against the mandate.
She thanked the armed forces for preparing an appropriate voters’ list and holding free, fair and transparent elections.
The seminar was also addressed by Memorial Trust Member Secretary Hafizur Rahman, Dhaka University professor Sonia Nishat Amin, Rajshahi university professors Abdul Khaleque and Shamsuzzaman Khan.
Hasnat Abdul Hye presented the keynote at the programme titled “Bangbandhu’s 7th March Speech: Greatest Speech Forever”.
