A school headmaster was beaten to death allegedly by a tractor driver and his accomplices at Chalakchar under Monohardi upazila here on Thursday night.
The victim was identified as Shiraj Uddin, 50, headmaster of Chalakchar Govt Primary School.
Police arrested tractor driver Raju Miah and his accomplice Akram Hossain following a case filed by Salah Uddin Titu, son of the headmaster.
Local and police sources said Razu locked into a brawl with the headmaster over riding his tractor in the school field in the afternoon.
As Shiraj rebuked Raju for damaging the school field by his tractor, he threatened to kill the headmaster.
Later, Raju along with four other accomplices waylaid Shiraj on his way home from school at north Chalakchar and beat him up to death at about 8:00pm.
Police sent the body to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
