The experiences of life, adventures and voices inside the soul, the feminine instincts and memories – all get fused with the textures,colours, motifs and fabrics of her works. Her works have been appreciated bythe most renowned brands of beauty.
Lakme chose her as the Top Designer in the very first ‘NextGen Designer Search’ in 2007. Lux chose her to be the one to design the dreamsof the contestants in the Lux Superstars in 2008 and 2009. These followed by fashion shows one after another were canvasses of her works.
Afterwards she took a break to embrace the great gift oflife. She is now back to share her rainbow of feelings with us through the colours, motifs, and designs.
This is said about the country’s one of the promising fashion designers Mirza Safaruh. Safaruh along with two other designers’ jointventure ‘D3’ was launched by anexhibition at Drik Gallery in the city’s Dhanmondi area recently. Eminent educationist and writer Majeda Saber, also grand daughter of Begum RokeyaSakhawat Hossain, was present as special guest at the inauguration.
In the exhibition, designed wears of three fashion designers- Mirza Safaruh, Morium Akhter and Farhad Selim – are put on display at theexhibition venue under the banner of D3.
At present, the second phase of the exhibition is being heldat the Drik Gallery, which began from August 18. Its first phase was held fromAugust 9 to 13. Sari, salwar, kamiz,fatua, tops and panjabi are included display items in the exhibition. Most ofthe products are by cotton fabric. Some are Andy cotton and Andy silk.Designers also used some Balaka silk and Tangail Muslins. The collection isbright with red, blue, green, black and other colours. They used embroidery,screen prints and motifs.
“Project Director of D3, Morium Akhter, a mother of twochildren, has always been interested in contemporary fashion and design for along time. She joined our team as our project coordinator for our events. Shehas spent her high school and college life in Canada. Recently, she justreturned to Bangladesh,” said Safaruh.
She informed that although Morium has no design experience,she brings unique expertise to their team because she has working experience inboth the eastern and western world. “Her experience will empower our D3 teamwith best of both sides of the fashion world,” Safaruh believes.
While sharing his feelings about D3 another designer of theteam Farhad Selim said, “I have always kept myself busy with designing and doit in a proper way. I have completed diploma in fashion design from INIFD. Ihave also participated in textile workshop arranged by DTC, Bulbul LalitakalaAcademy (BAFA). Furthermore, I have participated in many different exhibitions, fashion shows, and competitions.”
Farhad was also among the top 10 designers at the ‘LakmeNext Gen Designer Search’ in 2007. He professionally worked for Kay Kraft,Anyamela and 9to9. He has developed two workshops titled ‘Collage’ and ‘Opera’.
The exhibition will end on August 27.
