Captain Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Rubel Hossain — all Khulna players — will not play the fourth round match of the National Cricket League (NCL).
“Three national cricketers will not play the fourth round match as head coach (Stuart Law) has advised them to take rest,” informed Zahid Razzak Masum, national team operations manager, yesterday.
The NCL will resume after Eid holidays with the fourth round matches starting from November 14 across the country.
The other national cricketers will get back to business after the holidays by playing for their respective teams in the country’s lone first-class competition.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) made it compulsory for the Tigers to appear in the country’s lone first-class competition if they do not have international commitments.
Earlier it was informed that Shakib and Tamim Iqbal will miss the fourth round because of their commitment to shoot a commercial in India but it was deferred. Consequently, Tamim will turn up for Chittagong for their fourth round match.
The national preparation camp for the next home assignment against Pakistan is likely to get underway from November 18 at Chittagong. The camp will take place in Chittagong as it coincides with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
Pakistan will arrive in Dhaka on November 26 to play a T20 international, three one-day internationals and a two-match Test series against the Tigers.
