Illegal Stay
Dubai deports 88 Bangladeshis
Dubai authorities yesterday sent 88 Bangladeshi expatriates back for working there “illegally”.
They all landed at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport on a Fly Dubai plane at 8:30pm.
The returnees who went to Dubai for work at different times had to serve jail sentences as they had fled from their employers’ firms, said Shahabuddin Chowdhury, inspector (immigration) of the airport.
The Bangladesh embassy in Dubai assisted their repatriation by collecting passes for them from the Dubai authorities, he said, adding that this was the biggest repatriation of Bangladeshis from Dubai for working illegally.
Their visas were declared illegal as they had changed their employers, for whom, they were recruited, the immigration officer added.
