With his journey towards becoming a legend now complete, Usain Bolt has loads of time to live happily with his laurels and try something new that he has long been yearning for.
Dozens of suggestion came for him during his post-race press conference that is sure to confuse Bolt, who once intended to join the trial of Manchester United to become one of their wingers.
Rio Ferdinand already sent him an invitation through twitter account and Bolt promised to work it out once the Olympics is over. But football was not the only option that was made available to him by the hordes of journalists, who came from all over the world.
A female journalist asked him if he would now consider marrying and what type of girl – an actress, a queen, a singer, the fastest woman in the world – he would love to have as his life partner.
Bolt grimaced when he was told about the fastest woman [who also is a Jamaican] and gave an impression of considering every other option before announcing that he actually has no preference.
‘I hate to remain as bachelor,’ quipped Bolt. ‘In fact I am looking forward to falling in love. If I really find someone I don’t mind what she does,’ said the 26-year old Jamaican.
A Russian journalist took the microphone immediately and asked he if would consider visiting his country, where according to him there are a lot of beautiful girls.
Russia will host the World Athletic Championships next year but Bolt said he is not ready to look that far at this stage.
An Indian journalist did not miss the opportunity to invite him to play in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 Tournament and Bolt had no choice but to disappoint him.
While Bolt made no intention to express his love for Twenty20 cricket, he said that he already has had the wicket of best IPL batsman Chris Gayle (fellow Jamaican) in his collection and had once hit him for six, so the tournament is not a match for him.
A large part of the media who came from America has no idea about what IPL is and what Manchester United is all about. They kept on asking if will now turn his focus on 400-metre but Bolt kept them shut almost at the beginning of his press conference.
After winning his 100-metre sprint he told them that he hates 400m and on Thursday he made it sure again by asking them not to ask any question about it.
But he indeed faced a few questions on it. David Rudisha, who has just created world record, told he would love to run 400-metre with Bolt for fun and Bolt was asked if he was interested in the dual.
‘Oh man, he ran his first 400-metre in 56 seconds but I need one minute for it. I will be way behind them him,’ he quipped. But when Bolt was reminded that Rudisha actually needed 61 seconds, Bolt nodded positively.
On a serious note he was asked if he would consider long jump that would give a chance to emulate fellow athletic greats Jesse Owens and Carl Lewis, Bolt took a few seconds before saying this could be an option for him in Rio de Janeiro.
But at the moment he is giving some thought only on football. He has already announced that he can be faster than Wane Rooney and Nani as wingers and replying to a question agreed among the current wing players may be Robin van Persie can be a match with him.
Only time will say if Bolt really meant what he has just said or has made only another joke on his sporting prospect.
Even Bolt himself was not sure: ‘If I can’t find something to motivate me, then maybe football, I don’t know. Only if I am good, remember that,’ he said.
