Diversity in Nazrul’s creation had been presented in the rendition of some timeless Nazrul songs by the leading singers of the music genre on Monday at the Sawkat Osman Auditorium of the Central Public Library.
Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha organised the programme titled ‘Jaha Chai Jeno Joy Kore Pai’ marking 36th death anniversary of the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, which is observed on Bhdra 12, according to Bangla Calendar [any day between August 27 and August 29].
The programme began with a chorus presentation of Nazrul song titled Shubhro samujjal hey chiro nirmal by the members of the organisation in fast tempo that highlighted the zeal and enthusiasm of the song created by the rebel poet.
Seasoned singer Khalid Hossain, who is also the president of the organsation, presented a melancholic Nazrul song titled Tomar mon-e phutibey job-e, which was very relevant with the ambience of the death anniversary observation programme. The skillful presentation of the song truly touched the soul of the houseful audience.
With his wonderful voice modulation another popular Nazrul singer Khairul Anam Shalik, also the general secretary of Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha, presented the raga based Nazrul song Pratham pradip Jaalo for the delight of the audience. The song, rendered in tin taal, satisfied the thirst of the audiences, who long for the quality presentation of timeless Bangla songs.
Presenting a ghazal based Nazrul song titled Keno karuno ankhi, Nazrul’s great granddaughter Khil Khil Kazi moved the audience. Evergreen song Gaganey sahoney became lively with the spontaneous presentation by the noted singer Leena Tapashi Khan.
Another popular singer Salauddin presented famous Nazrul number Ghumiey gechhey shanto hoye at the show.
Nazrul’s urge for living in the souls of the people had been transported through quality presentation of Nazrul classic Tabu amarey dibona bhulitey by Bimal Chandra.
The evening became superb with presentation of other timeless Nazrul songs including Tabo mukhokhani, Mrityu nai nai dukkho, Shey chole gechhe boley, Jago antarjami, Kadbo na ar, Khela shesh holey, Tarun premik and others by the artistes of Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha.
