The Bangladesh national women’s cricket team will embark on their historic India tour today for a bilateral series to be played in Baroda and Ahmedabad.
The eves will go up against their Indian counterparts in three Twenty20 internationals on April 2, 4 and 5 followed by three one-day internationals on April 8, 10 and 12.
Bangladesh women’s cricket team captain Salma Khatun expressed her confidence of winning at least one of the two series and wanted to make the most of the bilateral series in a country where the men’s senior team are yet to make a tour.
‘We are taking this series very seriously. This is a very big deal for all of us. The boys didn’t get the opportunity yet but we did, so it’s a very important series for us. We will try to win one of the two series,’ said Salma.
The skipper felt they will miss the services of Khadizatul Kubra but she will be banking on the others to make up for Kubra’s absence.
‘Fahima Khatun, opening batter and all-rounder Shahnaz Parveen, both are really good as they have played well recently. With regards to batting we are in good form. If Kubra was there it would have been better. But she has to take her intermediate exams. We will definitely miss her,’ added Salma.
