Vietnam industry and trade minister Vu Huy Hoang on Sunday said they would specially consider the duty facility issue for exporting Bangladeshi SME products to Vietnam.
‘The Vietnamese government will put in its efforts regarding the facility under the WTO (World Trade Organisation) framework,’ Hoang said during a meeting with industries minister Dilip Barua at Shilpa Bhaban in the city.
During the meeting, they both discussed bilateral trade issues, cooperation in industrial sector and investment in Bangladesh.
Dilip Barua requested the Vietnamese minister to consider a duty-waiver proposal for Bangladeshi SME product export.
He also invited Vietnamese investors to initiate joint ventures in Bangladesh’s shipbuilding, cement, agriculture, pharmaceutical, ceramic and leather industry.
The Vietnamese minister said there was ample scope for investment in Bangladesh and Vietnam. ‘This opportunity needs to be tapped,’ he said.
