Teletalk, the state-run cell phone operator, has become the official title sponsor of the Bangladesh-Zimbabwe series, it was announced at a news conference on Wednesday.
Teletalk will sponsor the two-match Test series beginning with the first Test at Harare on April 17, along with the three-match ODI series and two-match Twenty20 internationals.
The minister for post and telecommunication, Sahara Khatun, unveiled the logo of the series at a programme at the Spectra Convention Centre in the afternoon. Mujibur Rahman, managing director of Teletalk, was present, among others.
This is the first time Teletalk, the only operator to have obtained 3G licence,
will be sponsoring a cricket series.
‘We would like to believe that by involving with cricket our brand value will certainly increase,’ Mujibur Rahman told reporters.
Teletalk, which was the telecom partner in the just concluded series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, however, did not disclose the sponsorship amount.
