Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry is going to launch a help desk by next month with a view to helping new entrepreneurs by providing them with business information.
DCCI president Sabur Khan said this when a DCCI delegation met expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain at Prabashi Kalyan Bhaban in the city.
‘The DCCI help desk will be dedicated to providing proper direction to investors from both home and abroad, particularly the NRBs (non-resident Bangladeshis),’ he said.
Sabur Khan also noted that DCCI has identified 11 potential sectors for NRB investment that include information technology and IT enabled services, hotel and tourism, food chain shops and mechanical engineering.
DCCI expects that the expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment ministry will come forward in support of this effort by providing information and services to NRBs through Bangladesh missions abroad.
He said DCCI has taken an initiative for picking 2000 new entrepreneurs through a conference, titled ‘NRB for Positioning Bangladesh’, scheduled to be held in October this year.
DCCI vice-president Absar Karim Chowdhury, directors Khairul Majid Mahmud, KMN Manjurul Hoque, Haider Ahmed Khan, M Abu Hurairah, Kh
Shahidul Islam, Hossain A Sikder, Abdus Salam and Md Shoaib Choudhury were, among others, present on the occasion.
