Two teenagers among three female students committed suicide in
the capital on Wednesday and Thursday.
At Uttar Maniknagar, a female student committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan with a scarf Wednesday. The deceased, Sreemati Sangita Ray, 23, is a 2nd semester BBA student of City College and from Tepari at Dawlotpur in Manikganj.
Sangita killed herself after he had had a quarrel with his parents over her failure in the semester examination Wednesday afternoon, victim’s father-in-law Rajendra Mandal said.
On information, Mugda police subinspector recovered the body from the house at about 8:00pm on Wednesday and sent it to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
At Maniknagar, a teenager committed suicide at her house on Thursday.
The deceased, Ishrat Jahan Ira, 15, daughter of Imam Hossain, is a Class VIII student of Maniknagar Model High School.
Victim’s father said her daughter killed herself hanging from the ceiling with a rope at about 6:00pm after she had had a quarrel with her mother Thursday afternoon.
Ishrat was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared her dead at about 7:30pm.
At West Razarbag, a teenager committed suicide on Thursday.
The deceased, Chaiti Akhter, 15, daughter of Zahirul Haque Bhuyan, was a Class IX student of Kadamtala High School, and from Kalagachia at Araihazar in Narayanganj.
The victim’s father said his daughter had a quarrel with her mother Wednesday night and them she killed herself at about 10:30pm on Wednesday.
She was rushed to Dhaka medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared her dead at early Thursday.
