A woman was killed and her HSC examinee daughter and another person sustained injuries
when a bus hit them from behind at Mirpur 10 roundabout in the capital on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Selina Pervin, 36, and the injured are Tanzila Pervin Tuli, 17, an HSC examinee of Mirpur Ideal College, and Mokhlesur Rahman.Tuli, along with her mother, were returning home after taking HSC exam at Mirpur University College centre in a rickshaw and at one stage a bus hit the rickshaw from behind when it was crossing the roundabout at 1:30pm, leaving the mother dead and the daughter and the rickshaw puller injured, said Tuli’s father Tofazzal Hossain, quoting witness.
Pedestrians took them to nearby Galaxy Hospital from where the Selina and the rickshaw puller were referred to DMCH and the daughter to Pongu Hospital.
On-duty doctor declared Selina dead at about 2:30pm.
Police seized the bus but the driver managed to flee the scene.
Tofazzal’s family is from Kowali at Faridpur and lives in 523/3 at Mirpur.
