BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed was rearrested at the Dhaka Central Jail gate after his release on bail in various cases on Thursday. Plainclothes police detained him as he came out of the jail on bail secured from the High Court in the cases filed against him with Paltan Police Station in connection with the April 1 violence in the city. Later, Salahuddin, a former MP from Cox’s Bazar, was taken to the DB police headquarters in the capital’s Minto Road. Contacted, Deputy Commissioner (DB-PR) Masudur Rahman said they arrested Salahuddin around 4pm at the jail gate on specific charges.
On April 8, police arrested Salahuddin Ahmed in the city’s Gulshan area when he was returning from BNP vice chairman Morshed Khan’s residence.
