Police recovered the decomposed body of a buying house official from his flat at Paltan area in the capital on Friday. The deceased was identified as Ali Afzal Selim, 45. His decomposed body was found lying on the bed of his seventh floor’s flat in Chandramallika apartment complex at Chamelibagh area at around around 1:00am. Sub-Inspector Alamgir Hossainn of Paltan Police Station informed that the door of Selim’s apartment was closed from inside for some days. As a stink began to spread from the flat; neighbours knocked the door of the flat but nobody answered. They called police on the Friday morning and police broke open the main entrance of the flat and found the decomposed body.
“We could not primarily ascertain the cause behind his death as the body was severely decomposed. After autopsy it will be clear to us,” SI Alamgir told The Independent. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for the purpose.
Neighbours told police that Selim was staying alone in the flat. His wife along with their two children was living in another place as they had a troubled conjugal life.
Neighbours also told police that they saw Selim entering the apartment on May 13th for the last time.
