Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan and opening batsman Tamim Iqbal were included in the overseas players’ list for the Caribbean Premier League
Twenty20 tournament scheduled to get underway from July 30.
Sakib, Tamim and a host of other international stars will be assigned to six franchise-based teams at the players’ auction to be held on June 5 in Jamaica.
Each franchise will be allowed a maximum of 15 players consisting of one West Indies franchise player, one overseas franchise player, four international elite players, seven international players and two under-23 players.
The Bangladeshi duo have been bracketed under the international elite category along with the likes of Pakistan’s Umar Akmal and New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori, among others.
Each team will be selected, supervised and overseen by four members of the team – the head coach, the assistant coach, the West Indies franchise player and the overseas franchise player.
Six franchises – Antigua, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago will fight it out in a double round-robin league before the final on August 24.
There will be an opening ceremony on July 30 followed by the opening game between Barbados and St Lucia. A closing ceremony will also take place before the final.
The tournament will comprise of 31 matches, including the semi-finals on August 22 and 23.
